About this deal

Thread the elastic through the scrunchie, holding both ends so it begins to gather up the fabric. Pin both ends of the elastic together. Sew these together with a few rows of stitching to secure on place or tie into a knot. Take the scrunchie to your sewing machine and sew across the ends of the elastic several times with a zigzag stitch. Make sure not to catch the fabric in this stitching, keep it pulled forward and out of the way. If you’re a beginner, I recommend starting with cotton, since it’s one of the easier materials to sew. Place the two bow pieces right sides together and stitch around all sides with ¼” seam allowance. Leave an inch or so to turn right side out. Sew the short ends with a 3/8 inch seam allowance. Make sure to keep the fabric flat as you sew over it.

I used quilting cotton from the gorgeous Notting Hill collection, designed by Amy Smart aka the Diary Of A Quilter, for Riley Blake Designs. Here's some eye candy for you from my new stash: Get the Notting Hill fabric collection by Riley Blake Designs here. Choose an all-purpose sewing thread in a color that matches your fabric. Use a hand-sewing needle to sew along the seams with a small running stitch. How to Make a No-Sew Scrunchie You can use almost any type of fabric you like, from quilting cotton to crushed velvet. Here are some things to consider:Sew a ladder stitch to close the 1-inch opening or draw a small line of Beacon fabric-tac along the seam allowance of the opening to close it. Gently pinch the fabric together and let the glue dry. Trim the excess fabric cutting close to, but not through the stitching lines. This will allow you to get a crisp point once the tail has been turned right-side out.

Step 1: Cut 2 pieces from the bow pattern. Place the pieces’ right sides together, and pin them in place.
